I’m Julie Butterworth - born and bred in Sydney Australia. I grew up in a family of photos – memories from birth, childhood and now captured in a moment, and stilled for the enjoyment of all. My father was always a natural with a camera in his hand and uncomfortable without it; like a man without an instruction manual; unsure of what to do. I can remember so many moments around the dinner table questioning him on what to do with a flash or the relationship between the aperture and shutter speed. It’s a conversation that continues with my brothers and sisters to this very day. Mostly, I’ve learnt that it is a real trusted privilege to be equipped and able to capture single moments of time, emotions, and experiences – packaged up and shared with purpose and love.
I love taking photos of people - showing them the beauty of their smile when no one is looking, or that stupid look on their face when they try to concentrate. I love taking photos of weddings and its experience so that it can last for so much longer than a day! I love music, and travel, the country and the city, the big moments and the small.
